Back when we were feeling more youthful, our bodies were producing plenty of collagen. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, found in the bones, muscles, skin, and tendons.

This protein is great for smooth, plumped-up skin without any lines or wrinkles.

Unfortunately as we age, collagen production reduces, cell turnover decreases and our skin is less hydrated. This can lead to dull, dry skin with fine lines and wrinkles.

Don’t worry though. If you’re in your 40’s there are ways you can look after your skin to slow down the effects of ageing.

Retinol

Retinol is a form of Vitamin A and is to be used on an evening after cleansing. It improves skin texture, minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and balances uneven skin tone. Retinol helps to decongest pores and regulate sebum (oil) production.

We recommend you apply this 3 times per week so your skin gets used to the application. Retinol can be quite drying so it is best to build the usage up.

Retinol Eye TR

This firms and rejuvenates skin so you wake up with refreshed, youthful-looking eyes. Retinol Eye TR is designed for the delicate eye area without causing irritation.

Moisturiser

Here at Medicare Cosmetics we recommend the Medik8 Glow Oil. It rapidly restores radiance while maintaining hydration within the skin. It contains Vitamin C which slows the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As well as this it provides antioxidant protection against environmental stressors.

Physical Sunscreen

Keeping skin protected from the sun is the key to looking youthful for longer. Physical Sunscreen is light enough for everyday use and strong enough to defend against signs of photoageing. A fantastic base for make-up; skin is left protected, hydrated and supple.
