A nail fungal infection is not really serious but it can be unpleasant and difficult to treat. The infection does develop slowly and causes the nail plate to become discoloured, thicker and quite distorted.

The cause of fungal nail infections are from moist, wet areas. Communal showers or swimming pools are common causes. Using nail salons which don’t sanitise their equipment. Tight fitting sweaty shows. It is contagious but not highly contagious but you will find more than one person in the same household will have it too.

There are few ways to treat Fungal Nail infections, the best and quickest way is having the IPL Fungal Nail treatment, it will get rid of it within 3 months. It is quicker than home remedies, however we will advise on homecare when you do have the IPL treatment.

The IPL transmits the light and heat into the nail to subsequently kills the bacteria. You should have around 6 – 10 treatments of this treatment. A Doctor’s note should be given to your Technician to show that you do have the fungal infection, a quick test from your GP will determine this.
